Inspiring Sandra Buckland

I'm still being inspired by knitwear and constantly researching knitwear designers. The most engaging designer I've found so far is quite new Sandra Buckland. Her designs have fantasy, sculptural elements.
Buckland's designs are inspiring to me because this is the level I aspire to be at with my work.
Also after seeing the Atsuko Tanaka exhibition at the Ikon last month I've been interested in knitwear, especially knitwear with sculptural elements. I've been working on some illustrations
to try and illustrate my ideas but I'm not completely happy with the shapes.

fashion illustration

After seeing Atsuko Tanaka's retrospective exhibition at the Ikon Gallery I felt so inspired, and consumed with the need to pay homage to Tanaka's work. That evening I though of practising my illustration skills by using her large paintings as inspiration. In the post I did about the exhibition I spoke about interpreting her work by using wool and wool pom pom balls.
This is the idea I had in mind represented in the first two raw illustrations I did that evening after seeing the exhibition.
Now it's been a few days I'll try and draw more illustrations in this style but perhaps try a few different styles, Im not sure what the results will be...

Fashion Illustrator: Stina Persson

I've only recently discovered her work, but it's so exciting. Stina Persson is a fashion illustrator based in Sweden, Stockholm. Her work really appeals to me because of the bright beautiful colours she uses, I love illustrations with bright colours. Her work is slightly similar to David Downton but she uses more colours in her work making it look more complex.

Her water colour works are just amazing! This is definitely something I will try out!
Her website has more of her exciting and beautiful work http://www.stinapersson.com/

Fashion Illustrator :David Downton

My quest of Fashion Illustrators is full steam ahead. The first person on the list is David Downton, ironically I've always been familiar with his work. I would always see his illustrations in various magazines but I never stopped to look up the work. What I like about his Illustrations is the simplistic but still unique nature of his illustrations. His style is definitely the style I would like to see myself working in, however I would like a bit more detail in my illustrations especially on the garments I'm illustrating. I also like that Downton didn't go into fashion illustration straight after university. He branched himself out to work on different projects. I feel this is something I would like to do during and after my studies. It would really help me to find my own artistic style and also gain more skills.
